Sling Consultants

A babywearing consultant can help you wear your baby safely & with confidence

A babywearing consultant is a trained professional that helps parents and caregivers to carry their baby safely and comfortably using slings, wraps, and baby carriers.

They can guide caregivers through the variety of slings available which will suit their particular needs. Most if not all sling consultants have real life experience from wearing their own children.

Consultants are independent private businesses that have been vetted by Babywearing In Ireland (BII) for appropriate training and insurance requirements. While they are recognised by BII, they do not work for or represent BII directly.

What happens at a Sling Consultation?

While each consultant will have their own way of running a consultation session, a consultant should help you to feel safe and secure in your choice of sling or carrier.

During a sling consultation you can expect to learn some of the following things:

  • Learn about safe babywearing

  • Learn about the ergonomics of babywearing

  • Learn about different ways to safely carry your baby

  • Learn about the different types of slings available to you

  • Get a demonstration

  • Learn at least one method of wearing your baby from start to finish

  • Further your babywearing knowledge with a new carry or wearing technique

  • Be able to ask questions about slings and babywearing

Rainbow by Aga

Rainbow by Aga is a Waterford based venture. Aga is passionate about supporting parents and caregivers, especially those with babies. Babywearing is a big part of Aga's life. She started her journey back in 2016. She found babywearing very confusing at first. The sheer amount of different carriers and wraps was making her head spin. Once she got her head around the matter she decided to pass on her knowledge and experience to others.

Aga offers call out home visits for one to one consultations. She also provides on-line services via Zoom. She has attended Die Trageschule Basic Consultancy Course and is currently taking a part in the Advanced Course. She's been a Babywearing Ireland volunteer since 2018.
