A young man is holding a baby in a baby carrier outdoors near a body of water with a forested area with yellow autumn foliage in the background. The young man is pointing with his right arm, and the baby's face is not visible as it is turned away.

Volunteer with us

Babywearing Ireland is entirely volunteer-led. Everything we do — from our local sling libraries to the national organisation — is made possible by people who simply want to support their community.

Why volunteering matters

Our volunteers are the heart of Babywearing Ireland. They show up for new parents, offering a kind word, a well-fitted carrier, and the reassurance that they're not alone. It's a small commitment with a big impact — and most of our volunteers will tell you they get just as much out of it as the families they support.

What we look for

  • A passion for supporting families

  • Reliable and community-minded

  • Interest in babywearing

  • Willingness to learn

Ways to get involved

Local library coordinator

Run or help manage a sling library in your area. You'll guide families through carrier options, offer fit checks, and create a welcoming space for carers to connect. Full training and ongoing support are provided — no experience necessary to get started.

Committee member

Help shape Babywearing Ireland at a national level. Committee volunteer positions are open to all — whether your background is in accounting, community development, marketing, IT, social media, or babywearing itself.
